Eric Downing

Eric Downing, M.D. is an ophthalmologist and surgeon who treats Cataracts, Diabetes, Age-Related Macular Degeneration, Glaucoma, and Pterygium.

Dr. Downing graduated Cum Laude with a BA in Psychology from the University of Kentucky.  He completed both medical school and his ophthalmology residency at the University of Louisville.  His Internal Medicine internship was completed at the New York Hospital Queens in New York state.

Dr. Downing enjoys helping people in underserved areas such as Haiti and Peru, where he has completed missions with SEE International.  He was recently published in the Bowling Green Daily News for his work.  He also is involved with organized medicine and was a delegate to the Kentucky Medical Association general assembly in 2016.

Our top priority has and always will be your safety when providing eyecare. We have employed strict safety and cleaning practices to support the health and well being of our patients and our staff. We have limited the number of patients being seen each day. We are implementing physical-distancing measures. We are disinfecting and cleaning all surfaces. We have eliminated all magazines and paper allowable. We are providing masks and face shields for all of our employees.

Everything you need to know:

  • Do not enter if you are sick or have COVID-19 symptoms.
  • A screening questionnaire is provided to patients at entry
  • All caretakers or accompanying individuals will be asked to wait in their cars
  • All patients will be required to have a facial mask before entering
  • All employees will have a facial mask on at all times
  • Hand Sanitizer will be available for patients
  • We have aligned stringent cleaning policies and procedures with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
  • We have eliminated waiting room chairs to accommodate a limited number of patients as determined to be safe and following guidelines
  • We have signs while in the office to maintain physical distancing at all times.
  • We have eliminated paper as much as allowable. All forms for new patients can be filled in online.
  • The patient portal is available for email communication.
